On a warm summer afternoon in March, Santhya (founder of Yellow Train), narrated a story to the Helper Akkas, Driver Annas and their families. It was a story of a huge Peepal tree that stood in magnificent splendor deep in the forest.The tree provided home and shelter to many living things and still had place for more. The animals and birds of the forest were curious about the source of the Peepal tree's strength and charm. At long last , a wise owl revealed that the strength of the Peepal tree lies in its thick roots that grow deep into the ground. Santhya ended the story by saying that the Helper Akkas and Driver Annas were Yellow Train's roots. We function effortlessly because of them, because of their love and commitment to the school and to the children.

March 14th was set aside to solely extend our gratitude to these individuals who are the backbone of our school. The day began with the teachers and admin staff serving a special lunch to the Akkas, Annas and their families. We had a whole range of activities planned for the rest of the afternoon which included dance, music, art, and games for the little ones. The Akkas and Annas participated enthusiastically and their energy was infectious. Most of all, they received the gesture with so much warmth and love.

It was a special day for all of us and a deeply fulfilling one.We are grateful to have had an opportunity to express our appreciation to these special bunch of people who take care of us and the children with utmost care and always with a smile on their faces. Thank you Akkas and Annas.
